Our 2nd week of Family Advent

We are almost halfway through December and it is hard to believe how fast the month has gone by! This week our advent gave us some family time together focusing on what is important and as well a few more giving moments for our family!

We attended our church’s live Drive Through Nativity! Our children as well as Sandy and I just loved it! It was so well done and so many people came out to experience it! They estimated between 600-700 vehicles went through! We also attended a Community Christmas Concert at the church, with some wonderful music, including two songs from the Orchard children!

Mid week the children made bird feeders and hung them up in our back woods. With the colder weather coming we wanted to remember them as well. The feeders have been a popular spot all week! The kids also went through their toys this week and filled a large bag to donate to the school for the shopping party. The money from the shopping party goes toward gift cards for families in need!

At the end of the week, we were able to visit a local special care home to do some caroling. We went to both senior and children wings and sang songs as well as delivered the Christmas cards that the kids had made the weekend before. It was a wonderful evening! We ended our weekend with going for a drive in our pjs, drinking hot chocolate and looking at the Christmas lights! Today the kids passed out candy canes to the children at our church once Sunday school was over!

It was a wonderful week and we are looking forward to more great advent fun this week! This will definitely be an ongoing tradition for our family.
