The Feeling of Coming Home

Have you ever felt like a certain place was home, even though you have never lived there in your life? Some of you will know what I mean and others, well you may think I am a little nutty. 😉 I came to Boston for the first time when I was 17. I was fortunate to meet an awesome University friend that was from this area and I came to visit her during the summer after our 1st year. I fell in love. The beaches, the city, the Boston Harbor, the things to do, the feel of the place. I had lived in Yarmouth for 17 years of my life and to this day, it has never felt like home. I go back rarely and never miss it, but I think about New England often.

All of our trips start and end with this area. It is my happy place. Our first day of this month long adventure started with the ferry from NS to NB and then the drive to Burlington, which is outside of Boston. Great hotel and close to the city. This will be a hotel to remember in the future. Great price, awesome suites and a yummy breakfast. Yesterday was calling for rain all day. But when we woke up, it looked like it may hold off for a while. Not trip is complete without Hampton Beach, so we left early and headed there.

I love the city / beach feel. The beach is well taken care of, I love that there are shops that line the beach and the beach is amazing. We spent an hour or so just soaking it in and then went for a walk down the shops. We all love this beach and we have so many great memories of sharing this beach with family and friends.

After some amazing time on the beach we went to visit my Great Aunt Claire. She has been living here since she was in her late teens and her family (my cousins) are all here as well. We always make a point to stop by and visit. She is an amazing woman who Ella is named after. 🙂

We came back to the hotel to start to get ready for the concert. Caile had to map me into Fenway. I had never driven in that part of the city before or coming from this direction. She was an amazing mapper. We found our parking area and started the walk to Fenway. Entering the gate was a little overwhelming. I had never been to a Ball Park like this before. It was already surreal! We made our way to our seats and when I sat down and looked out, there was Boys II Men. Wow! I almost had to pinch myself. Looking around Fenway and seeing them on stage, it was overwhelming in an amazing way! They performed their songs and then Paula Abdul came on. WOW! At one point Ella asked me how old she was. I told her a lot older than me, but somehow she was up there dancing and singing and looked just as awesome as when I watched her videos as a kid. By the time she made it through most of her songs the rain started coming down super heavy and the sky was really dark. They made the announcement that they had to clear the field until it passed for safety. Luckily we were in a dry area. I knew it would be a rain or shine concert so I booked our seats based on that.

Luckily it didn’t take much time and the storm passed. Next thing I knew NKOTB was on stage. I was completely taken back. The next couple of hours flew by. This was an amazing concert. They were so much fun. They interacted with fans, had the fans interacting with the concert. I haven’t sang and danced so much in a long time. The girls loved every minute of it. They knew a lot of the songs so they were having a lot of fun as well. To be in the same space as Donnie Wahlberg, wow! I was taken back. I had went to a Backstreet Boys concert many many years ago and although it was a great concert, it didn’t touch this. NKOTB had fireworks, confetti blowouts, streamers blown out, amazing lighting and they sounded great. They came out to the fans and it was so awesome to see. They really do appreciate their fans. It is awesome to see. We can’t wait to go back again! What a great evening for us! And what an amazing start to this trip!
