Family Day Long Weekend

Every weekend since we came back from our Christmas Holidays we have been on the go, often in different directions. Basketball season is in full swing for Noah, Alex works every weekend and Ella & Caile have been fundraising almost every weekend with their dance troupes. We have had lots of time together, but not a lot of family time as a whole.

We started the long weekend early on Thursday night with the Acadia Axewomen Basketball game. Ella was given tickets for our family from their awesome coach Len Harvey. We are huge fans of Acadia Basketball, in particular the women’s team. Noah has had clinics with the players from both teams. And his Spring league had him involved with them as well as Len Harvey. Paloma Anderson is his favorite player. She is so amazing with the kids. Noah loves that she is a petite player like him, but uses her speed and determination to be one of the best players. She proves to him that size doesn’t matter in basketball.

We were all pumped to be at their final home game, especially since it was the last for 5 of their players. We all love Paloma, Alexandra Berry is another one of my favorites. I love that she is from Yarmouth and her Dad was my Volleyball Coach and Phys Ed teacher. It has been awesome watching her play. Acadia won that night and it was awesome to see the ceremony honoring these players as well. It was a great night.

Saturday we had a late family Valentine’s supper at the Naked Crepe. We all had dessert crepes for supper, except Sandy who had the spicy thai. One of my fav places to eat. πŸ™‚

After supper Caile & her Emerald Troupe was performing their tap routine at the Broken Leg Theatre. They did great as well as the other 2 Dance ConXion performances. There were a lot of great comedy routines, and I was laughing / crying pretty hard for some of them. We all enjoyed the show.

Sunday we were going to spend in the city as a family, but Noah ended up with a last minute basketball practice before his tournament next weekend, so the girls and I had a city day. Alex has been saving for an iPhone, so we found a great deal in the city on kijiji and the other girls had some shopping they wanted to do with money they have been saving. We hit Lindt and the Halifax Shopping Centre and had a great afternoon. It is fun to have some girl time every now and then. πŸ™‚ And I even found a great deal on some 4th of July Earrings since we will be celebrating in the US this summer.

We came home for supper and then headed to the Fisher’s for a game. Small World has become my new favorite game. It helps that I have also won all 3 games I have played. πŸ™‚ It was great to have an evening with them.

Today we dropped Alex off at her friend Riley’s and we headed to the Wolfville Reservoir. It was such a warm day. We decided after that stroll that we would also head to Miner’s Marsh. I love the Winter we have been having. So thankful for these temps.

Alex had her drivers ed who picked her up at Riley’s and she drove herself home once her lesson was over. We had supper and then as a family we rented Wonder. What an awesome movie. We all loved it. So many moments of laughter and tears. I highly recommend it.

It was great to have a weekend together and I am thankful that the kids are involved in so many things they love, but we need this time as well. Gets me excited for summer. πŸ™‚
