Roughly 8 years ago, the girls badly wanted bunnies. I am pretty sure Alex sold the other 2 girls on the idea, because she wanted a bunny so much, but either way, all 3 of them wanted bunnies. I had never owned a bunny, but felt they would be a great pet after some research.
We found a breeder of Mini Lops as we wanted smaller bunnies and decided to get 3 from the same litter, since we were told Sisters get along best. When our bunnies were finally old enough to take home we made the drive to the Truro area to pick them up.
To our surprise when we arrived, they were at 6 weeks old, the size that we expected them to be at full size. We hesitated, but after having our hopes set on these bunnies, we decided to take them home.

We found out later that we had adopted French Lops, which are a very large breed of lop bunny. The girls each named their own bunny. Ella named Rose, Caile named Isabelle and Alex named Lilly. The 3 sisters were a great match for each other and although their size intimidated Caile and Ella quickly, Alex took over helping to care for all 3 of them.
About 3 years ago, Rose passed away, a year or so later Isabelle leaving Lilly on her own. She didn’t seem to mind that her sisters were no longer around, but I find it hard to read bunny emotions. During these past few weeks Lilly wasn’t eating as much and started changing her behavior when I would see her daily. I had a feeling her time was growing short. Today Lilly passed away and we said goodbye to the final of our 3 bunnies. They were great pets and although I won’t own a bunny in the future, we were thankful to have these memories with these 3.
I’m sorry about the loss of your last bunny. Very cute pics, and I’m glad you have happy memories at least.
