A few years ago I took March Break off for the first time and we drove to Toronto. It was pretty awesome. It was my first time in Toronto and despite it being Winter we fit in a lot of the top tourist stops. We also watched our first NBA game, which was a win for the Raptors. It was a great week. I have always taken a day off here and there, but find it hard to find ideas of things to do in Winter around here.
Since I’m off this year, we decided to make a week of it fitting in as much as we could. The weather didn’t cooperate at the start of the break, but Ella and I took Ezra into Build a Bear and went to see one of Noah’s basketball games.

Throughout the week we planned some driving trips and some stay at home stuff. We took all the kids including the Fisher family kiddos to the Natural History Museum to see the new Mastodon exhibit. This was Ezra’s first time there and our first time since all the Reno’s. It was great and Ezra’s reactions were very entertaining. He was a little confused at first since some animals moved and others didn’t, but regardless he loves animals, so he enjoyed it.

We took a trip into Ross Farm as it is their maple syrup week, so they have a lot of their buildings open and some tasty treats which is always a highlight for the kids. While we were there they were making barrels for the new Washington Black series set to start filming this summer. Very cool to see these being created.

On St Patrick’s Day we decided to have treats and do an online Paint Nite. It was a lot of fun. I don’t often hang up most of these paintings that I’ve done, but I really enjoying hanging out with this group working on a project.

Emily and Kate’s birthday was during the break and it was so nice to finally have some celebrations. Covid affected their celebrations during the past few years. We went to Clayground and I painted my first piece. In the past I’ve always been helping the younger children, so I never had time to work on my own piece. I’m very excited to see how it turned out.

We also decided to book an escape room and have a bit of a competition between our two groups. There were some technical difficulties with our escape room, but regardless we all got out and it was a lot of fun. That evening we decided to have supper together and play some games. It was a great evening.

On the last day of break we had some downtime but spent the afternoon out for a walk in the Grand Pre area. It was beautiful and it was good to enjoy some fresh air.

This may have been one of our best March breaks and convinced me that in the future I need to take the week off. 🙂 It was hard to see the kids go back to school but before we know it summer will be here. 🙂
