In This Moment Now, Capture it, Remember it

For almost 15 years, I’ve had the privilege of being part of Ella’s dance journey and it’s been a pretty incredible one. Before she was able to join Kidance, she would try to mimic Alex practicing her dances, always moving with any music that was playing.

Ella joined dance when she was 3 and later went from Recreational dance to Competitive dance at the age of 9. She was incredibly lucky to be a part of a studio that offered her the opportunity to learn many styles of dance, train under so many talented choreographers and develop some incredible friendships along the way.

Dance is so powerful. It’s amazing to watch dancers tell a story with their bodies through music. I’ve had moments of laughter, joy, tears and sadness because of these stories over the years.

Ella has always loved performing and truly lights up being on the stage. Being part of a team to share this stage with over these years has been some of biggest moments of her life. These friendships will be lifelong. Dancers share such a special connection and I’m so thankful that Ella has met so many wonderful people along the way.

When Ella was 13 she tried out for Squad. This was an opportunity for Ella to train and dance more. So much changed for Ella joining Squad. Her number of dances increased, she trained under even more choreographers and built even stronger connections. This led to more invitations to Dance Showdowns and a lot of great wins for their team, including a Golden Buzzer at the Elite Dance Competition a few years ago and most recently a Showdown win.

A couple of years ago Ella decided that her passion for dance was more than just dancing, she wanted to be a choreographer and own her own studio one day. Ella has assisted dance classes in the past and last year substituted a number of times. She also had the opportunity to not only create her own choreography, but she choreographed a solo for one of the other squad girls. Ella has been creating choreography for years. On some of our long car drives she would often be drafting choreography in one of her notes books.

I’m so happy for her. She’s really found her passion. She’s registered for a number of dance teacher certification courses and also plans to take some Business course as well. She’ll be teaching at her current dance studio next year which she’s very excited about.

Kelly, the owner of Dance ConXion, has been an incredible role model for my girls. She is passionate about dance, developing and inspiring dancers. She is incredibly supportive and has given so much of herself and her time to ensuring she is there for all of the moments. I will never be able to express the amount of gratitude I have for her and her amazing dance company. My girls have both been so blessed to have her in their lives.

We are heading into Ella’s final week of dance. She has her final recital and her final competition. I honestly can’t explain the joy it’s brought me over the years to watch Ella light up that stage. I will miss this more than I can ever explain. It’s hard to be sad when I’ve been blessed with watching her dance for 15 incredible years. And I can’t be more thankful that this isn’t the end, it’s just the start of a new journey. In the future I’ll watch her light up the stage with her choreography and I’m very much looking forward to all of those amazing moments to come.

Ella, thank you for sharing your heart, passion and gift on that stage over these years. You’ve brought me so much joy and I loved being part of it all. I’m so incredibly proud of you for all you have accomplished. You’re so talented and I can’t wait to see where that talent takes you. As you dance on that stage for the last time in your senior career, embrace every second and be so proud of every moment of your amazing 15 years. Love you!
