I have never owned a Siamese cat before Zeus and wow was I missing out! We were never supposed to have Zeus let alone another cat at the time. When Zeus was born we had my senior cat Precious and she was not a fan of other cats, so we weren’t going to bring home any other pets.
Our friend was breeding Siamese cats, so we met Zeus when he was born and he stood out to each of us right away. My parents had a blue point Siamese and there is just something about that soft grey fur and those blue eyes… I’m a sucker for them. She was willing to part with all of them except Zeus, so I decided we would stick to our plan of not bringing home any other cats.
Fast forward a couple of months, Zeus’ mom was expecting a new litter and our friend would only give up Zeus if we would take him. She wanted to know where he was going. I was still being a bit stubborn. I really didn’t want another cat, but I finally caved. I told the kids he would be their cat.
Well I learned very early on that Siamese pick their person and are super attached to mostly 1… you guessed it, Zeus chose me.
He was always more like a dog in personality to me rather than a cat, well except for intelligence… he could outsmart most dogs. He was always very vocal and had so many tones to his voice. Some mornings I have to admit I’d cringe at how loud he would be lol, but mostly I loved that he was chatty.
He loved to snuggle and slept with me and on top of me every night. He also loved to sleep with Noah when he was little before I’d go to bed and in the last year Ezra as well, who also loves cats.
Speaking of Ezra, from the time he was little if he heard Ezra stirring he would meow at me or step on me to wake me up. Even as recently as last evening, Ezra came out of his room after I had fallen asleep. Super rare for him to wake up now, but Zeus startled me first and then I knew why he had woken me up a min later.
In a few weeks Zeus would have been celebrating his 14th birthday. He was diagnosed with diabetes in August and also developed other health issues. We went in for an x-ray today and his lung had collapsed from a build up of fluid and he was in rough shape according to the vet. He didn’t let on though. We could tell he wasn’t himself, but he was still enjoying pets, purring and sleeping with me. I’m thankful he is no longer in pain.
Zeus was an amazing cat. So great with kids and never bothered anything, he was so well behaved. We will miss him, but thankful that we had almost 14 years with my boy! 💙

Oh Jen, Zeus is so gorgeous. How wonderful that he grew up with your kids! Sending loads of love to you and your family.
