Your favorite day is here! I love how much you love your birthday, really birthdays in general, but of course very much excited over your own. You love to celebrate, even your stuffies birthdays. I can think of a few times over the past year that you managed to convince one of your sisters to bake cupcakes or a cake with you for one of your stuffies.
You have grown so much over the past year. You have mastered your bike and I would say based on your confidence, it is time to try it without training wheels. 🙂 You played a lot of soccer this year, between the 2 indoor seasons and the summer season. You are learning new skills and it has been wonderful to see your growth. You did your first Track & Field event and your first Cross Country race, followed by your first Harvest Marathon, both of which were 800m. You were very excited to finally try fishing and you caught your first fish. So proud that you are always willing to try new things. In a few weeks, you will start your first season of basketball.
You love nature. You’re always up for a walk especially on the trails. You collect pine cones, acorns, walnuts, but your favorite might just be chestnuts. You really thrived at gardening this year. You grew your own pumpkins, lots of little trees and vegetables and currently you have an avocado tree starting to grow in your window.
You had a lot of adventures this year. We travelled to Cape Breton a few times over Spring and Summer. You really loved it there, exploring the trails and the beaches. You are always up for a road trip and have so much patience in the car waiting for us to arrive. We also adventured to Quebec City and Toronto, both of which were new to you. You enjoyed the Aquarium and the Zoo a lot, but the very cool sights in Toronto, like the CN Tower. You also convinced me to camp overnight in a tent, something I had not done since I was a kid. I am not a camper, but you are very convincing, so we gave it a whirl and I actually liked it. I love and appreciate that you are always challenging me to step outside of my comfort zone and try new things.
I realized this year, that a lot of our previous vacation memories have faded from your memory because you were so young. You still remember Hershey Park a few years ago with the Fisher family, but most of the other trips are a faded distant memory. I expect that from now on, these memories will stick, so I guess it just means we need to go back to places like Washington during Cherry Blossom, so you get to relive it again. 🙂
You are 2 months into your first year of homeschooling and I can’t be more pleased with how well you are doing. You are focused and curious. You are absorbing so much new information and have really embraced this way of learning. I love getting to be a part of your learning and growth. So proud of you.
There is so much more to say about your year, but luckily, I have probably taken more than 1000 pics of you this year, so you can always look back and see all of our memories together. I love you Ezra. You are kind, happy, always curious and adventurous, determined, smart and so eager to learn much about this world. Can’t wait to celebrate you!
