Something about a waterfront!

I grew up in Yarmouth. Most of you have never been there and I have now lived longer away than I have lived there. I don’t miss it, nor do I ever feel the itch to go back. There is one thing about it though, that always makes my heart smile… the waterfront! I really love any town or city that has a waterfront / harbour area. I can’t explain why, but it really just brings me some sort of happiness. After living away from Yarmouth for years, we moved back for Caile’s first year and I walked often from our home to the waterfront. It’s beautiful!

That brings me to our weekend! We had a city day on Saturday and Sandy wanted to purchase a certain t-shirt that he was using during his flash talk on his meet up in Utah next month. The place the sold the t-shirt was on the waterfront. He offered to run down and grab it while we did other things, but any chance I have I enjoy some time there. They have changed a few things to make it more kid friendly and attract tourists. I am lucky that my children are like me and they enjoy it all! Some of them could look at boats all day coming in and out! A great day that I recommend is parking at Alderney Landing in Dartmouth and taking the Ferry across. It is inexpensive and what child doesn’t love a ferry ride! Then you can enjoy some time on the waterfront before going back! And if you do have some $ to waste, stop at Cows! Expensive but worth the treat! 🙂

I am thankful for the hour or so we had on Saturday. Especially with Fall coming, we spend less and less time by the water! It seems as though every vacation we take as well puts us on the Waterfront of some city. Last summer we enjoyed the Hingham area outside of Boston, Hampton Beach, New York City, Point Pleasant Beach NJ, North Bay Beach Maryland and Washington! Definitely easy to tell we love being near the water! Next summer I am already looking forward to more Maryland Beach time, but for me a day on the Baltimore Waterfront will be a must!

I really do love the Valley, but some days I miss being close to a beach with grey / white / beige anything but dark redish brown sand lol! It also gives me all the more reason to travel so I guess I’ll take it! 😉
