Happy 93rd Birthday Nannie!

I am very blessed to have both of my grandparents still living and as an adult it’s been wonderful to visit and hear their stories and learn bits and pieces of their past that have shaped the people they are today.

My Nannie was raised by her father, my Grampy Wif as I called him. Her Mother died giving birth to her brother when she was only two. Her brother passed away as well. She never had any memories of her mother.

I can only imagine how my Grampy and my Nannie felt. I do know that my grandmother is an incredibly strong, compassionate and empathetic woman. She has a huge heart and cares so much about everyone and everything, which is also a reflection of my Grampy’s parenting and his love for her.

I remember throughout my childhood going to visit and her love for animals was always such a fond memory. She always had feed out for birds and other animals and she would always have a stray cat showing up for food. She has always loved cats so much. Even to this day she still feeds the neighbor’s cat when it wanders over.

Nannie loves her pictures. Every time we visit I look through some of her photo albums. She loves to save pictures of everyone in her family. Definitely reminds me of my own love for taking pictures and sharing pictures. They are such precious memories and I am thankful for her many albums.

She is very particular about things. She has always liked them to be a certain way and also needs to double check that she has done something she thought she did. I definitely have this trait of hers, which I learned came from my Grampy Wif. Nannie’s boys used to tease her when she would be doing something very set in her or ways or needing to go back to double check something she thought she had done. They would say that she caught the “wif it”. Caile and I both have this trait. 🙂

My Nannie met my Pop in church about 75 years ago. I am so thankful for her faith and love for God. Both her and my Pop still live together in their home to this very day with my Uncle.

Nannie, I love you very much and am so grateful to have you as my Grandmother. You are an amazing woman who has been a wonderful role model to me and I hope today you have felt well loved by everyone! You deserve it! Happy Birthday Nannie!
